Joshua “Josh” Michael Struchen, 39, of Mason City, passed away peacefully at his home on Sunday, November 3, 2024. Funeral arrangements are with Fullerton Funeral Home.
A celebration of life will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Friday, November 15, 2024 at Fullerton Funeral Home, 123 2nd St SE, Mason City. Family will greet friends and relatives from 1:00 p.m. until service time.
Joshua was born on January 25, 1985 in Mason City, the oldest son of Rick and Sherry (Rasmussen) Struchen. He attended Mason City schools and graduated from Mason City High School in 2004. Josh was affiliated with The Arc of North Central Iowa until 2004 and 43 North Iowa. He worked at Fareway, Affordables, Papas and most recently, Prime and Wine. Josh had many friends where he lived at the Autumn Park Apartments and he loved “his girls” from Cerro Gordo County Public Health and North Star Community Services; he brought them a lot of joy by playing pranks and making them laugh. Joshua had a beautiful laugh and gave the best hugs. He had a great sense of humor and was a bit of a jokester at times (although he could also be stubborn sometimes too).
Joshua enjoyed watching WWE wrestling, Ninja Turtles and his favorite movie, Titanic. He loved music and dancing; his favorite music was country or classic rock. He also loved his family and spending time with them. Joshua was a bright light to many; his laughter and smile will never be forgotten.
Those left to cherish his memory include his parents, Rick and Sherry Struchen; brother, Bryan (Julie Vohsman) Struchen and Reba (Noah) Sparks; paternal grandparents, Roy and Marlene Struchen; maternal grandma, Leona Rasmussen; aunts and uncles: Kristi (Doug) Buffington, Anette (Dan) Cobeen, Kenny Rasmussen, Roger Jr. Rasmussen; best friend, Matt Olson; several cousins and many other family members and friends.
He was preceded in death by his maternal grandpa, Roger Rasmussen.
