Celebration of Life Visitation will be held from 2:00 to 4:00 PM on Sunday, November 10, 2024, at Oakcrest Funeral Services in Algona.

In lieu of flower memorials may be directed to the family.

Travis Eugene Lain was born September 5, 1980, in Algona; son of Fred Lain and Robin (Fox) Phillips. He grew up in Algona then with the family moved to an acreage outside of Titonka. Travis was very active in high school playing football, being in track, and wrestling. He graduated with the class of 1999 from Algona High School.

After high school he went to college to play football but he reinjured his ankle. He returned to Titonka to be part owner in operating Tyke Lanes with Cory Hamilton in 2001. Then he had the opportunity to buy the corner gas station to which he called Tyke Repair. Later, he worked with Merryman’s, helping to build bridges. Travis then moved to Des Moines and sold cars for Deery Brothers dealership. After working there for awhile he got a job with Shortstop. He then returned to Titonka to care for his mother, Robin. After returning home, Travis continued to build his career and his life. He later sold insurance with Cappers. He then went on to work with Aluma, and finally, he found his home at Jack’s OK Tire Service, where he spent the last years of his career doing what he loved most.

On October 24, 2020, he was united in marriage to his high school sweetheart, Amie Studer at Buffalo Creek Activity Center in Titonka, Iowa.

Travis was an avid outdoorsman with a love for fishing, deer hunting and enjoyed bowling. His love for the outdoors in the tools he used came and shared passionately with his father. He had a keen eye for cars, working with enthusiasm in the world of sales. However, it was on the racetrack where Travis’s heart truly belonged. A dedicated fan and participant in sprint car racing, whether behind the wheel or in the stands, his passion for racing was unmatched, and his love for the sport was a part of his identity. When he wasn’t racing or working on cars, Travis enjoyed the simple pleasures of life, whether it was spending time on the farm, or smoking delicious food for those he loved.

Travis was known for his honesty but with that honesty he was quite witty and with that it came with a funny joke weather you thought it was funny or not. He was quick to tell a story on top of another story. With that being said, he had a special bond with Cooper our family dog. Travis was also quick to share his human food with Cooper even though he wasn’t supposed to have it.

The best part of Travis was him being an incredible and proud grandpa who adored his granddaughter Emery Mae who brought such happiness and joy to him. He also made sure to rile her up right before bedtime and found great pleasure in doing so.

One thing that most people didn’t know about him was that he was a kid at heart. Whether it be a goofy mood to model airplanes, Travis always found a way to have fun. He was a good man with a good heart. He had a great smile and the prettiest blue eyes. Travis was a hardworking man and knowledgeable about what he did. He was a jack of all trades.
