Car wreck near Hampton leaves 1 dead, 4 injured Wednesday morning

HAMPTON, IA – One person was killed Wednesday morning in a 2 car crash just east of Hampton.

The incident took place at 8:45 a.m. 3 miles east of I-35 on Highway 3.

Raymond Joel Eddy, age unavailable, of Latimer, was traveling east and was killed when a westbound vehicle crossed the center line and struck his 1999 Ford Ranger head on.

The other vehicle, a 2002 Chevy Avalanche, was driven by Mario Baez-Calles, age unavailable, from Hampton.  He and his three passengers, all from Hampton, were injured and transported to Franklin General Hospital.  The injured passengers were Javier Baez, Sergio Antonio Mareno, and Noe Vela.
