MASON CITY – A shipping container fire was doused at Mason City’s Bushel Boy Farms on Thursday afternoon.
According to the Mason City Fire Department, on October 24, 2024, at 1:18 PM, the Mason City Fire Department responded to a fire in a shipping container at Bushel Boy Farms, located at 4660 S Monroe Ave. Upon arrival, fire crews found flames inside a container used for storing miscellaneous maintenance items. Firefighters quickly extinguished the fire, and no injuries were reported. Bushel Boy workers tried to initially extinguish the fire but were unsuccessful as the fire grew quickly. The cause of the fire was welding operations being performed outside the container, and it has been ruled accidental and unintentional.
The Mason City Fire Department remained on scene until 2:08 p.m., with assistance from the Mason City Police Department.
