FAYETTE COUNTY – A Northern Iowa man crashed his Mercury Sable into a bridge, causing thousands of dollars in damages.
On October 4, 2024, at approximately 9:24 AM, the Fayette County Sheriff’s Office received a report of a vehicle that had hit a bridge along O Ave south of 170th Street near Randalia. Upon arrival, deputies located the 2009 Mercury Sable hanging over the bridge embankment.
Upon further information, the driver of the vehicle, 68-year-old Steve A. Euans of Oelwein was traveling north when he crossed over the opposite lane of traffic and struck the bridge. Euans was transported from the scene by private vehicle and later located at the Mercy One Hospital in Oelwein.
As a result of the incident, Euans was charged with:
– Failure to maintain control
– No insurance (accident related)
– Operation without registration
The bridge sustained approximately $15,000.00 in damage and the vehicle was considered a total loss.
