UNI Panther women’s basketball to take part in the 2024 Paradise Jam Tournament

ST. THOMAS, U.S. Virgin Islands — The UNI women's basketball team will be heading to the Virgin Islands for the 25th edition of the women's Paradise Jam tournament at the University of Virgin Islands Elridge Blake Sports and Fitness Center in St. Thomas.

ST. THOMAS, U.S. Virgin Islands — The UNI women’s basketball team will be heading to the Virgin Islands for the 25th edition of the women’s Paradise Jam tournament at the University of Virgin Islands Elridge Blake Sports and Fitness Center in St. Thomas. The tournament will take place over Thanksgiving weekend from November 28-30.

This year’s field includes eight teams and will be split into two brackets (Island Tournament and Reef Tournament). UNI, Pittsburgh, Kansas and Auburn will compete in the Island Tournament, while Missouri State, Gonzaga, Texas Tech and Florida State face off in the Reef Tournament. This will be the first time that the Northern Iowa women’s basketball team has competed in this event since its inception in 2000.

The Island Tournament tips off on Thanksgiving Day (November 28) when the Panthers will take on the Auburn Tigers in the first all-time meeting in program history at 4 p.m. AST / 3 p.m. CT tip time. November 29th will feature a matchup between the Panthers and Kansas with another 4 p.m. AST / 3 p.m. CT tip time. This will be the fifth all-time meeting between Northern Iowa and the Jayhawks and first since 2006 when Kansas defeated the Panthers 59-49 in Lawrence. UNI will round out the tournament on November 30 in its first-ever matchup against Pittsburgh with a 1:30 p.m. AST / 12:30 p.m. CT tip.
