CORALVILLE – An Iowa meth dealer died in prison after serving less than one-third of his sentence.
George Vantrece was pronounced dead due to natural causes at approximately 10:20 p.m. on Monday, October 3, 2022 while in hospice at the Iowa Medical and Classification Center where he had been housed due to chronic illness. Vantrece was 72 years old at the time of his death.
Vantrece had been serving a 35-year maximum term for the crime of Prohibited Acts-Manufacture, Delivery, Conspiracy, or Possession with Intent – Methamphetamine and other charges from Polk County. His sentence began on May 16, 2011.
