On December 28, 2017, at 3:01 PM, Worth County Dispatch received a 911 call originating at 131 South Grant Street in Manly, a residential daycare. The 911 caller stated there was a baby not breathing.
First responders were dispatched; this included the Manly Police Department, the Manly Volunteer Fire Department, the Worth County Sheriff’s Office, Mason City Fire and Rescue as well as AirMed out of Mercy Hospital in Mason City. When first responders arrived on scene, there was a seven-month-old female infant not breathing and not responsive. First responders performed CPR on the infant. When the paramedics arrived the patient was transported by ambulance to Mercy Hospital in Mason City, where she was pronounced deceased.
Consistent with protocol, the Iowa Division of Criminal Investigations was called in as well as Iowa Department of Human Services because the decedent was an infant.
There has been an autopsy, but the results of the autopsy are not available at this time.
This investigation is not yet complete so there is information that we cannot release at this time.
“This is a tragic event and a delicate time for all involved. We will try to release any and all relevant information as this investigation continues,” said Aaron Pals, Chief of Police, City in Manly.
Matt do the right thing and monitor comments on this story. There is a decent family out there struggling with the loss of their child. Arrogant and nasty comments shouldn’t be allowed. There’s A LOT of lives effected by this tragic accident.

Vaccinations are most likely the cause – believe what the big pharma tells you — But ! There are many studies showing these injections containing mercury and other toxic chemicals can kill you or really screw up children for life. SAD!
Economics more than likely killed this baby. What parent leaves their 7 month old baby with a day care, but for those who are cash strapped and must work to pay their bills? If America had a sound social services network like Denmark or Sweden, new mothers would be home taking care of their children rather than being out in negative zero weather. This is shameful that our society would place a new mother in a factory separated from her baby and call it virtue.

Why can’t the new fathers stay home too? DISCRIMINATION!!!!
Better idea- If you can’t afford kids and the expense that goes along with them (i.e. childcare) don’t have them until you can.
Or do like some sections of our society and have kids while living on the governments dime (welfare) and have even more kids so you don’t have to burden yourself with finding a job.
Until we know what killed the baby (doubt economics was the cause) still a sad situation and whether accidental or not I offer sympathy to the parents.
What killed the baby specifically was probably an inattentive day care worker not keeping track of the children. But what brought the child to the day care in the first place was undoubtedly Economics.
