MASON CITY – A Hawkeye legend was in Mason City Monday evening.

Tim Dwight, who played football at the University of Iowa in the late 1990’s under Coach Hayden Fry and later went on to play in the NFL for the Atlanta Falcons, New England Patriots and other teams, stopped at the Mason City Library to discuss one of his other passions – renewable energy – or more specifically, solar power.

Dwight is part owner of Integrated Power Corp.  His company has installed solar energy modules all over the state and beyond and is looking to expand the reach of this burgeoning technology.

Dwight’s energy for athletics seems to have followed him into his new business. Dwight talked solar while some technical issues were worked out with a library computer.  His knowledge of the technology was apparent as he talked of a future (somewhat already being realized in Germany) where people and structures use energy from renewable sources and efficiency is paramount.

Dwight is mainly focused on commercial installations of solar modules and has done some large installs at the University of Iowa and businesses in Cedar Rapids, among other locations.

Watch the video below for more on Dwight’s solar company (and he even talks a little Drake Relays and Hawkeye football.)
