Joseph D. Johnson, 47, of Northwood and formerly Alton, IL died peacefully June 16, 2022 at MercyOne North Iowa Hospice Inpatient Unit in Mason City.
Per his wishes, his body will be cremated. A celebration of his life will be planned in the future.
Joseph Daniel “Joe” Johnson was born November 19, 1974 in Alton, IL the son Thomas and Susan (Shewmake) Johnson. Growing up he attended Alton High School. Most of his life was spent in Alton, working construction, doing janitorial and sanitation work. On April 3, 2007 he married Crystal Swain. Recently, life brought Joe to Iowa where he lived in Northwood.
Those left to cherish his memory are his wife, Crystal; children, Alyssa Johnson, Danielle (Jimmy) Davis, Ryan (Kay) Hamilton – Easter; step-chidldren, Amanda, Jacob and Tara Davis; many beloved grandchildren; siblings, Tommy Shewmake, Susan Bailey, Deborah (Tom) Whitehead, Candy Johnson, and Asa Johnson; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, and extended family members.
Preceding him in death are his parents, Thomas and Susan and brother, Ronald “Rocky” Johnson; a nephew, and many other relatives.
