DES MOINES – The Test Iowa site currently located at Merle Hay Mall in Des Moines will close when testing concludes on Friday, Oct. 23 at 6 p.m., and move to a new location where drive-thru testing can continue throughout the winter.
The new site will be located at 4475 NE 3rd Street in Des Moines, east of the Bridgestone Firestone plan
A second site in Des Moines, located at Polk County River Place, 2309 Euclid Ave., will remain open through November 6. At that time, Test Iowa will continue to serve the Des Moines metro and its surrounding areas at the NE 3rd Street site, which can accommodate the current testing volume.
As previously announced, the state is working on plans to relocate or transition its Test Iowa drive-thru sites as winter approaches. Sites remain in Black Hawk, Linn, Pottawattamie and Scott counties. Announcements will be made soon regarding ongoing testing in those communities.
The state continues to work with local and regional health care providers to increase access to testing through Test Iowa clinic sites. The state provides testing supplies and resources, and processes tests through the State Hygienic Lab, while local hospitals or clinics operate and staff the sites.
Individuals who wish to be tested at any site must first complete an online assessment at testiowa.com, and schedule an appointment.
