U.S. Senator and possible Native American Elizabeth Warren says Democratic opponent “can beat” Congressman Steve King

Elizabeth Warren wants Steve King out of Congress.

DES MOINES – U.S. Senator and possible Native American Elizabeth Warren says a Democrat “can beat” Congressman Steve King in this November’s big elections.

According to an email received at NIT Headquarters from liberal U.S. Senator Elizabeth Warren, Republican Congressman Steve King “regularly spews out white supremacist propaganda” on his Twitter feed, but “we can beat him” in the crucial elections rapidly approaching November 6.

Warren, who says on her web site “DNA analysis concludes” that there is “strong evidence” that her “DNA contains Native American ancestry” even as some conservatives say that is hogwash and she lied about her heritage to get a teaching job at Harvard, wants newcomer J.D. Scholten to defeat King.  Some say he will do it. Scholten himself points to “cash on hand” figures that show Scholten has $621,707.48 while Steve King has $160,561.09.

In the email NIT received, Warren says:

There’s a guy in Congress who … regularly spews out white supremacist propaganda.

His name is Steve King. And this November, we can beat him.

J.D. Scholten – a terrific Democrat and fifth-generation Iowan – is running against Steve King in Iowa’s Fourth District. Let’s help J.D. win.

This week, Democrats like J.D. Scholten are finalizing their budgets for the rest of the campaign – which will decide the number of voters they’ll be able to reach by Election Day.

The stakes are huge, so we’ve set a big fundraising goal of $100,000 for the week. We need to help them have everything they need. They’re fighting their hearts out, and they need this grassroots army to win in November.

Please chip in $3 – or whatever you can afford – to give J.D. Scholten’s campaign a boost in this critical week and help make sure he has the resources to beat Steve King.

The contrast between Steve King and J.D. Scholten couldn’t be more clear. Steve King is arguably the most divisive member of Congress (and that’s saying something). J.D. will fight to bring people together and represent everyone. He’s already visited all 39 counties in the district in his Winnebago, sleeping in parking lots along the way, because everyone deserves to be heard and respected.

The biggest lifetime corporate PAC donor to Steve King is the American Bankers Association. J.D. isn’t taking a dime in corporate PAC money from anyone.

And yet, J.D. is striking terror in his opponent thanks to contributions from more than 18,000 individual grassroots donors. That could include you.

J.D. has made getting big money out of politics a focus of his campaign – and he doesn’t just talk the talk, he walks the walk. That’s why I’m asking you to join me in supporting his campaign by chipping in whatever you can today.

Getting big money out of politics is only just part of what makes this race is so important. See, thanks to Steve King’s six-week abortion ban bill – the first federal legislation of its kind – he was recently named one of the 15 “Worst for Women” in Congress.

J.D.’s campaign motto is “Standing Tall for All” – not just because he’s 6’6.” He stands for an economy, a government, and a health care system that will work for everyone, and because he’s fighting for a community where racism, sexism, bigotry, and hatred aren’t welcome. He’s a team player through and through – he played professional baseball for his hometown Sioux City explorers and in seven countries with teammates from every continent except Antarctica.

Today, we’ll fight by J.D.’s side.

Recent polls show Steve King – who so far has refused to debate Scholten – leads by 10 points.
