CLIVE, IOWA – An Iowa McDonald’s restaurant was damaged in a recent kitchen fire.

The Clive, Urbandale and West Des Moines fire departments responded to a reported structure fire on Tuesday, December 10, 2024, at McDonalds in Clive, located at 11400 Forest Lane.

Luckily, a single sprinkler head activated and controlled the fire until crews arrived to fully extinguish the fire.

The fire was caused by the failure of a motor in a refrigeration unit, the fire department said.

There was minor smoke, water, and fire damage reported, but no injuries to people.

McDonalds was closed after the incident and was expected to reopen on the next day.
