MASON CITY – An Alliant Energy spokesman confirmed that about 1,000 customers lost power briefly Monday due to … a squirrel.
Justin Foss of Alliant told NIT this afternoon that a squirrel made contact with a power line in Mason City and caused a breaker to open, which then knocked out power to about 1,000 customers Monday afternoon. The incident took place at about 3:57 PM.
“We had the breaker reset and power back on about 30 minutes later,” Mr. Foss.
