SIOUX CITY – An illegal alien who was caught drunk driving in Iowa was sentenced October 26, 2017, to more than one year in federal prison.
Alfredo Gonzalez-Segundo, 46, from Temascalcingo, Mexico, received the prison term after a July 18, 2017, guilty plea to reentry of a removed alien following a conviction of a non-aggravated felony.
At the guilty plea, Gonzalez-Segundo admitted he was previously removed from the United States. Gonzalez-Segundo was located in Clay County, Iowa, upon his arrest for OWI. Gonzalez-Segundo was previously removed from the United States in 2005, 2012 and 2013, each time being returned to Mexico from the United States.
Gonzalez-Segundo was sentenced in Sioux City by United States District Court Chief Judge Leonard T. Strand. Gonzalez-Segundo was sentenced to twelve months’ and one day imprisonment. He must also serve a three-year term of supervised release after the prison term. Any term of imprisonment imposed in the pending Iowa District Court for Clay County case for operating a motor vehicle while intoxicated (OWI) shall be consecutive to the term of imprisonment in the federal case. There is no parole in the federal system. Gonzalez-Segundo is being held in the United States Marshal’s custody until he can be transported to a federal prison.
The case was prosecuted by Assistant United States Attorneys Kevin Fletcher and Shawn Wehde and investigated by U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement.
Deport this guy, why the hell should we house him in a prison.
