Today’s feature story on the front page of the Globe Gazette only fortifies what most people in this city already know. We have a dysfunctional mayor and an inept administration in charge of this community. I have been in business in this community for 59 years and never before have I ever witnessed such total incompetence that is aided and abetted by the city council.
Trying to upset the Sanitation Department in this city is unconscionable and cruel. To continually cause consternation within the various city departments is little more than a power play trying desperately to gain some modicum of respect or redemption from its citizens is too little and far too late. As for the council….not one of them is worth their mettle or qualified to preform the tasks on guiding this city to salvation.
While the Globe’s report today was predictably benign, the editorial by Matt Marquardt of NIT written yesterday brought Eric to task and told him just where the bear shit in the woods. There is no sugar on the shelves of this publication that could be used to coat something other than the real truth. Here it is what it is, no more no less.
Those working diligently hauling refuse are loyal employees who deserve better from us; searches have proven that our rates are some of the lowest to be found anywhere…leave it alone. Any responsible council would have arrived at that conclusion long before this and shut this madness down once and forever. There are 12 families involved here, no different from your own…what the hell are you doing? You ought to be ashamed of yourselves to keep catering to this spoiled brat; but then not one of you know better.
The election is fast approaching and this sorry excuse we have in office is floundering around on the barroom floor trying to pull himself up long enough to trick you again. Chancres are good you will let him stick to us again. For Christ’s sake go vote and clean house in this town. Vote early, ask for absentee ballots, take then into nursing homes, ask your neighbor to help get you to the poll, vote together, just vote! By voting we can breath clean air once more and get the stench out of city hall.

Interesting that the people who complain we are wasting $40,000 on statues are the same who don’t want them to determine if they can save the taxpayers money on sanitation services.
I have lived in plenty of other Iowa towns with MUCH better systems for garbage and recycling; not to mention yard waste.

mr. kuhn and mr. lee, thanks for telling it as it is, you hit the nail on the head. i didn’t really hear an answer out of solberg, the others need to move on. thanks to the sanitation guys for the great job they do, in all types of weather. i could go on but the wife just pulled a hot pie out of the oven, smells good. thanks for your ear.

Max, Matt & Children have an agenda & that is to sling all the mud they can on NIT to pave the way for Max to get back on the council. He has stayed quiet & away from council meetings as part of his agenda. It is so obvious what is going on and NIT thinks the people of MC are too blind or stupid to see the obvious.

I would hope that Max decides never to run again. This city doesn’t deserve someone of his fortitude and abilities to uncover the truth. He’s done more for Mason City in his spare time than those elected to do the job.

I don’t think that is true that the majority in town will never vote for Max Weaver again. In fact I think it is the exact opposite. I have heard many people comment they wish he would run for the council again. I don’t know about mayor but people are so fed up with this stuff that many do want Weaver back on the council. You better get out more and converse in more circles, you must be limiting yourself to certain people.
Everyone is wondering “where is Weaver?” The people didn’t support him last time, and he went away. They need to summon him back to clean up this mess, or he will remain off the radar.
Where do I even start? Peter your hate for Bookmeyer is clouding your judgement. His and our council’s responsibility is to search out the best deal for this community in any area under their responsibility, and sanitation certainly qualifies. You can’t justify saving a few individual’s jobs by screwing over an entire city’s tax base. I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again: your journalistic talent can be summed up simply as a mud thrower. All you do is spew hate for those who disagree with you. People post on here without using their names, and you ask why? Isn’t it obvious? Maybe if you had enough decency to no attack anyone who disagrees with you then people could have a truly open forum for discussion. Anonymous2, the fact that you would even suggest that Max Weaver should run for anything in this town again shows how far off your rocker you truly are. The majority of this town will never vote for that guy again.
This is so true!!! I am not being mean or hateful just truthful bookmeyer is the worse Mayor Mason City has since I can remember and I have lived here 50 plus years. He got the council he wanted he sleeps nights knowing they are all in the good old boys club. He can make plans to re-do the mayors office I just hope he knows that it will be for someone else that is deserving and will people first if people will get out and vote next year!!!!! Yes folks bookmeyer has 1 year left before he is BEGGING for votes because that is what he is going to have to do Beg because his track record smells as bad as the smell of money we have been smelling the past couple of days in town CRAP!!
