IOWA CITY – A man who left the state was finally jailed today after he allegedly was spied executing a sex act on a “helpless” woman in Iowa City back in May.

Mason E. Fillmore, age 28 formerly of Iowa City but now living in Virginia, was allegedly spotted in Iowa City committing a sex act on a physically helpless woman who was asleep and unaware of the deed, according to the Cedar Rapids Gazette. Police were called and Fillmore, who has a criminal record in Iowa that includes drug charges, assault on police, drunk driving and more, was arrested on number of offenses including drug possession and most importantly, a charge of felony third-degree sexual abuse, which was brought later in June. He failed to appear for an arraignment, leading to an arrest warrant which was finally served by Iowa City police; he was booked into the Johnson county jail August 7. Fillmore then posted $15,000 cash/surety bond, records show. A judge restricted his travel to Iowa, only.  He awaits further court proceedings.
