CHARLES CITY – An man now calling Charles City home and accused numerous times previously of domestic assault was arrested on a charge of felony domestic abuse in recent days.
Charles City police reported that on May 16, 2014, officers responded to the 400 block of 7th Avenue for an assault. After an investigation, police arrested 35-year-old Mack Mathis for felony domestic abuse due to strangulation.
Mathis was taken to jail, booked, and soon released.
Mathis has been charged numerous times in Iowa with domestic abuse. Most cases have been dismissed, or a guilty plea entered to a lesser charge.
SUBJECT IS INNOCENT UNTIL PROVEN GUILTY
