DES MOINES – U.S. Senator Joni Ernst (R-IA) issued the following statement on the 2016 election results:
“For too long Americans have felt abandoned and their voices ignored. Donald Trump started a movement in this country; millions of people who are tired of politics as usual. Now, Washington elites can no longer ignore the voters’ voices.
“Iowans in particular were heard loud and clear, helping to send a President-elect Donald Trump to the White House, as well as sending Senator Chuck Grassley, and Congressmen Rod Blum, David Young and Steve King to Washington. Additionally, I am thrilled that Republicans have won the majority in the Iowa State Senate and maintained the majority in the State House.
“I also want to congratulate my Republican colleagues on incredible and well-deserved victories across the country, and holding a Republican-led U.S. Senate and House.
“Working together under a Republican White House and Congress, we have a critical opportunity to get our country growing again and to ensure America remains a strong, stabilizing force around the globe.
“The American people have spoken. Now, let’s get to work.”
