MASON CITY – The Mason City School Board will meet Monday evening to discuss further updates to school buildings.
A facilities update will given by Scott Smed from Bergland and Cram, who will provide the board with information on the security entrance renovation plans for the four elementary buildings.
Superintendent Anita Micich, CFO/Board Secretary Ramona Jeffrey and Supervisor of Facilities Todd Huff will provide additional information related to the discussion of the secondary campus renovations and other facility needs.
Last month, it was reported that the next renovation phase might be at Mason City High School, from the commons area to the corridor on the east side of the gym. “This area still has all the old mechanical and electrical which is 50 years old,” Ramona Jeffrey said.
A source who attended the November school board meeting told NIT that there is up to $4 million or more in funds that “must” be spent by a certain date or the funds could be lost.
Some elementary schools may see security improvements paid for by the excess funds.
I can attest that the system there is 50 years old and needs to be replaced by a more efficient system. I know that because my dad was involved in that job.
I too am person against spending, my only thought is where is this funding coming from?
Do it “for the children”. You gotta love that ridiculous line.
“COME ON MAN” this has to stop sometime. We give you a little extra $$$ and now the whole school system is getting updated, Why not update the football field with fake grass, then redo the stinkin wrestling room, then go and redo the nasty old bus barn by the BEAUTIFUL baseball field so the guys that work on the field have a nice place to take a break. Then if you got anything left give yourself a raise for a job well done. Oh don’t forget some of you work @ clear lake so give them 20% also. “COME ON MAN”
