MASON CITY – Fabulous new shopping options are possibly coming to Mason City to give your credit cards the workout they deserve.
The Mason City council will consider a development agreement Tuesday night for the vacant storefronts out in the Indianhead shopping district on the city’s west side. Technically called the Willow Creek Shopping Center, several storefronts have been vacant or under-used for years, ever since Marshall’s department store attempted to go in back in 2013.
The developer, West Lakes P&S, LLC, stands to rake in up to $433,000 in tax rebates over 10 years if the project agreement is OK’d by the council. The stores likely going in the the shopping center are Old Navy, Five Below, and Ross Dress for Less (discount apparel store).
The actual storefront that was to holdMarshalls will remain vacant at under this proposal. The three stores would be built into other adjoining structures nearby.
