Area residents involved in 16-car pileup on Sunday near Waverly

logo-iowa-state-patrolWAVERLY – A 16-car pileup on Highway 218 near Waverly involved several people, including residents from Mason City and Clear Lake.

According to a report, white-out conditions made driving extremely hazardous Sunday, and the multi-car crash happened during the blizzard warning which was in effect just before 5 PM.

Area authorities and emergency responders came to the scene, and found a tractor trailer driven by Dean Pruisman of Mason City to be immobilized. Pruisman was not reported to be injured.

Four other persons were injured and taken to a Waverly hospital.  Marlyn Pruisman of Clear Lake, age 53, was among those injured, as well as two Clarksville residents and a Shell Rock resident.
