Colleen Niedermayer is running for Mayor of Mason City. Here is her announcement as provided to NIT:
I’m running for Mayor of Mason City. I want to listen to all the citizens of Mason City and improve our community for today and the future of our city. My plan is to improve communication, focus on more opportunities for children and young people, promote Mason City while focusing on our big and small businesses, and making our city better for all of our citizens.
I have a degree in Chemical Engineering from the Colorado School of Mines. After graduation I went to work for Lehigh Cement Company in Union Bridge, MD for two years. I was then transferred here to the Mason City plant 13 years ago where I am the Quality Control Manager. My family and I are members of the First Congregational Church where I am on the Board of Trustees and the Reserve Fund Committee.

ya get rid of Solberg. last week was the listening post for the 4th ward at our saviours church,. guess who didn’t show up?? Solberg. she really cares about the people is 4th ward. when the hog show was going on I called her and emailed her withquestions, she never returned a phone call nor a email. she really cares. and whats his name that is running for the 4th ward counsil person should not get any votes. he has been there before and what did he do? nothing. lets get all new blood in there and perhaps there will be changes. to bad the new mayor and council will be stuck with the ice arena and the other idiotic things drunkmeyer is trying to ram down our throats. everyone get out to vote and vote in new blood

Willie Pickle I won’t vote for for sure. Schickel is too tied to the elite in Mason City and cares nothing for the working people and those in the cheap seat.

With Bookmeyer, Schoneman, Hickey out of the picture, just need to get rid of that clueless fool, Janet Solberg.
Solberg has to be one of the most idiotic people to ever sit on the Mason City council, what a twit.
A new mayor (not Schickel) and some new council people with Lee and Adams remaining would be a hell of a good start in restoring some trust & credibility to Mason City government,
the funny part is that it was your very own citizens that voted in the people you are now belittling. kinda looks like the voters of mason city are just as clueless and idiotic. rinse repeat and recycle must be the theme of the cities voters
Not clueless or idiotic, but I will chalk it up to citizen apathy.
Unfortunatly the voter turnout was pathetic.
Voter turnout for local elections has historically lagged but is getting worse.
And when that happens you end up with likes of Eric Bookmeyer and his minions.
Sadly it mirrors a national trend, perhaps even worse.
One need only look at the buffoon we have as President.

She will go down in history as one the worst council people ever to “serve” in Mason City.
