DES MOINES – Cerro Gordo county’s top Republican has been named to an environmental board by Governor Kim Reynolds.
Today, the office of Iowa Governor Kim Reynolds announced that Barbara Hovland of Mason City has been appointed to the Iowa Environmental Protection Commission (EPC). The EPC is a panel of nine citizens who provide policy oversight over Iowa’s environmental protection efforts. EPC members are appointed by the Governor and confirmed by vote of the Senate for four year terms. Meetings are typically conducted in Des Moines on the third Tuesday of the month. Appointees are unpaid.
Barbara Hovland is the Chairwoman of the Cerro Gordo county Republican party. Her former opponent for the seat in the Iowa House for District 53, Democrat Sharon Steckman, who won that election in 2016, is currently on the state’s Environmental Protection Committee in the legislature.

Barb Hovland is a political appointee.
Her qualifications or lack there of are irrelevant in that arena.
She has been a “dutiful” little Republican party minion and as such that is her reward.
Now if the Governor wanted to appoint Barb to something that she is qualified for, perhaps the commission on soiree’s, cotillion’s and how to accessorize would be more to her abilities.
If you ever see Barbara walking down the street you will immediately notice her two most obvious and eye catching qualifications. She proudly displays two ginormous mammary glands that cost her husband thousands in multiple boob jobs.
