BUCHANAN COUNTY – A Charles City woman lost control of her car Sunday on a slippery road due to alleged excess speed and caused an injury to a state trooper when she slammed into his Ford Explorer.

The crash occurred Sunday morning, December 4, at the 55 mile marker of Interstate 380 in Buchanan county. According to the Iowa State Patrol, a state trooper was at that location on the inside shoulder assisting a motorist that had gone into the median. At about 9:22 AM, 22-year-old Brittany Anderson was driving by in her 2006 Toyota Camry traveling southbound when she lost control due to driving too fast during the winter conditions and struck the rear of the 2015 Ford Explorer. The Explorer was forced into the median, while the Camry crossed both lanes of traffic and went into the ditch.

The accident is under investigation, and charges could be possible. According to the report, the 45-year-old state trooper was injured, but there was no word as to the extent of the injuries. He was taken to a Waterloo hospital.
