Opinion: Iowa could be left out of infrastructure re-build proposed by Trump

A Letter to the Editor for North Iowa Today:

In President Trump’s State of the Union message, the President addressed the feds helping to finance infrastructure improvements.  Part of the President’s requirement will be State and Local Government participation.

I would assume the State has road use monies to meet this requirement in the transportation field, but what about items like high speed internet; additional natural gas lines, high speed rail, airports or other telecommunications.

Iowa is broke, the Legislature has no intention on raising taxes on the super-rich so therefore infrastructure improvements outside of roads and bridges will not occur here in Iowa.  The feds intend to fund an infrastructure partnership but because Iowa will not raise the necessary funds to participate, Iowa can and will be left out.  How stupid is this?

It is time the Iowa Legislature quits pandering to the super-rich and instead legislates for the benefit of the masses here in Iowa.

We the voters of Iowa need to demand our government works for us, the working class.  Attend the caucuses Monday night, demand equality.  Let your voices be heard!
