Belmond woman’s motorcycle spins out of control after encountering flock of birds

ambulanceVENTURA, IOWA – A Belmond woman was injured Sunday afternoon when her Harley-Davidson motorcycle encountered a flock of birds and she had to lay the bike down.

On September 11 at about 4:10 PM, the Cerro Gordo Sheriff’s Office responded to a report of a single vehicle motorcycle accident in the 15000 block of Balsam Avenue just South of Ventura.

Shannon Carolus, age 42 of Belmond, was Northbound on Balsam Avenue when a flock of birds came into her path causing her to lose control and laying down her 2016 Harley-Davidson motorcycle. Shannon was transported to Mercy Medical Center North Iowa for her injuries.

The accident remains under investigation.

The Cerro Gordo County Sheriffs Department was assisted by Ventura Fire Department and Garner Volunteer Ambulance Service.

I do not understand why any of the ppl. who are replying think this is amusing? A woman was hurt and transported to the hospital.

At least she didn’t have to land in the Hudson!
