HUMBOLDT, IOWA – An Iowa man was killed in an auto accident when he apparently collided head-on with a field sprayer.
According to the Iowa State Patrol, the accident took play Friday, May 20 at around 12:20 PM on county road C49, about a half-mile west of Florida Avenue in Humboldt county.
Thomas Griffin, age 37 of Waterloo, was traveling eastbound on C49 and following another vehicle. As he attempted to pass, his 2014 Toyota Camry collided – apparently head-on – with a westbound 2014 Terrogator Field Sprayer, driven by 37-year-old Aaron Orwig of Rolfe, Iowa.
As a result of the crash, Griffin’s Camry came to rest in the south ditch; Griffin was pronounced dead at the scene. The Terragator ended up in the north ditch after rolling over once and coming to rest on its wheels. Orwig sustained minor injuries and was taken to a Humboldt hospital.
