Police deal with trouble at public housing apartments in Rockwell

ROCKWELL, IOWA – There has been more trouble lately at a public housing apartment complex in Rockwell, Iowa.

Police have been called regularly to the Oakbrook Apartments, located at the 500 block of 3rd and 4th Street, for various incidents.

Johnny Lee Williams, age 57, was arrested by a Cerro Gordo deputy on the evening of April 10 for criminal trespass.

On April 6, Rockwell Police Chief Richard Whitney investigated a drug incident there.

On April 4, a Cerro Gordo deputy was dispatched to the apartment complex for suspicion of a Marijuana odor. Upon arrival, no such odor was detected and no action was taken.

On the evening of April 2, 49-year-old Queenester Long was arrested at the apartments for fifth-degree theft and public intoxication after a Cerro Gordo deputy and Chief Whitney responded.  She was jailed, pleaded not guilty, and awaits a May 12 trial.  Earlier that evening, a trespass was reported there, and law enforcement responded.  All parties were talked to and separated for the night.  No charges were filed.

On April 1, Cerro Gordo deputies responded to a report of a disturbance.  Johnny Lee Williams was arrested for false report to 911 communications.

NIT previously reported that deputies were called to the apartments on March 11,  searching for the source of a marijuana odor. Deputies reported that they located the smell and did “a knock and talk.” However, the “occupants were slow to answer the door but did consent to a search of the apartment. The odor was confirmed but nothing found.”

Currently, landlords are offering a special “move-in gift” right now at these apartments, a $75 gas or grocery card.
