RURAL CERRO GORDO COUNTY – Two people were hurt in an auto accident Friday afternoon in rural Cerro Gordo county.
On August 9, 2019 at 02:31 PM, the Cerro Gordo County Sheriff’s office responded to an accident on Highway 18 at the 193 mile marker. According to the sheriff’s office, a 2005 GMC Envoy driven by 37-year-old Dean Nicholson Jr. of Rockford, Iowa was traveling west when he lost control and crossed the median, striking an eastbound 2010 Chrysler mini van driven by 39-year-old Jamie Arfman of Osage, Iowa.
As a result, Arfman and a passenger, 74-year-old Carol Drewelow of New Hampton, Iowa, were injured; they were taken to Mercy One by the Mason City Fire Department. Nicholson Jr. was not injured, but was issued a citation for failure to maintain control.
The Cerro Gordo County Sheriff’s Office was assisted by the Nora Springs Fire Department, the Iowa State Patrol and the Mason City Fire Department.
