NIT – Governor Branstad is going deer hunting again, and this time he has a new firearm to help him bag another buck.

Branstad said Saturday via social media that he was given a new muzzleloader by Jeff Beene, the president of PI Corporation (parent company of Knight Rifles) for use on his annual deer hunting excursion.

In Iowa, the late muzzleloader deer hunting season runs from December 23rd, 2013 though January 10th, 2014.

Last year, Branstad shot an 8-point buck while hunting in Decatur county.  He had the deer head mounted.

According to the Des Moines Register, Governor Branstad is leaving Sunday for Texas to hunt wild hogs.

  1. Wonder what he got in return for the gun? I didn’t think our elected officials could accept ‘gifts’ whose value was over a certain amount of money.

  2. Who in their right mind would give this man a gun? Do you see him shaking as he speaks? He will prolly have a trooper or two help him.
