Flores doesn’t go quietly for officers

MASON CITY – A wanted man didn’t go quietly Sunday night as police officers attempted to take him into custody.

Sunday night at around 9:45 PM, Mason City police officers went to 911 16th Street NE (owned by Vicki and Shirley Kropf) to try and serve an arrest warrant. When the officers arrived, wanted felon Valentine Flores was outside the residence and fled on foot from the officers.

Officers chased Flores and were able to arrest the mixed-martial-artist a short distance away. Police told NIT that Flores allegedly resisted arrest and two officers received minor injuries while trying to subdue Flores, leading to two counts of Interference with Official Acts (serious misdemeanors).

Flores remains jailed on no bond in connection to a possible parole revocation to his release from prison for drug dealing. He is also being held on $42,000 cash bond connected to his charges of interference and a charge of first degree theft.
