RURAL CHICKASAW COUNTY – A Lawler, Iowa man traveling at a high rate of speed crashed his car in a fatal accident northeast of New Hampton Saturday morning.
According to the Iowa State Patrol, 19-year-old Jesse Johnson was Lawler was traveling south in his 2000 Pontiac Grand Prix at about 5:10 AM Saturday morning when he lost control of his vehicle. The incident occurred neat 150th Street and Quinlan Avenue in Chickasaw county, northeast of New Hampton. A report says Johnson continued through that t-intersection, crossed 150th Street and then went airborne as the vehicle left the roadway. It struck several large trees in a roadside ditch before coming to rest and catching fire.
The patrol said that when the vehicle was found, it was completely burned. Johnson was pronounced deceased Saturday.
