I would rather believe in God now and find out there is no God when I die rather than not believe while on this Earth and find out there IS a God when I die. It will be too late. I surely would not like to look Jesus in the eye and see him cry for my wasted time here. We are put on this earth to give Glory to Him by serving Him through helping others and protecting this world. Seems we are doing a pisspoor job. Sorry some of you people can’t see God. You just don’t know how close He is.

Even if a “god” of this earth were to be proven undeniably real in front of me right now, I would still not worship it. What kind of all knowing, all powerful “god” allows this much suffering, violence, hatred, and greed? Certainly not a “loving” and “forgiving” god as your religious institutions preach. But I don’t have to worry about this, because there is no such thing as “god”. It’s just on this planet, and many people are wasting their lives pining for the afterlife.

Why does God have to appear for some to believe? To some, I guess I’m naive. I just have faith. I have faith that God is why I’m here. That everything I am is because of God. There was a time in my life that I hit rock bottom. It was God that brought me out of that time. I don’t need to visually see God. I just have faith that he’s there. Even through the rough times, through death and grief. And through the good times also. Gotta keep the faith.

When “science” figures out how to sew a button on a fart, I will consider the atheists beliefs.
On my side of the argument, nature is to perfect to be caused by a big bang. Procreation was a divine gift from God. The will to survive is a divine gift from God.

What makes be a firm believer is the one proven power over all others. Forgiveness! Until you have experienced it, you and all the other atheists will never get it. The gift of Forgiveness was taught, demonstrated and given to mankind over 2000 years ago.
Buddah understood suffering, Jesus cured it with his gift. It’s up to you to decide to embrace it or not.
First of all I’m NOT an atheist. I believe humans are living IN God’s creation, and it’s their job to figure out the planet here and now…not to wait for it in some afterlife. I’ve baptized myself in the aqua clear waters of Key West, and communed with God’s creation probably more intimately than most. I’ve died and been resurrected many times. Physically and psychologically I was healed of very serious afflictions. What I don’t believe in is the typical version of Christianity.
When one has accepted the gift it only has to happen once. You do of course have the choice of rejecting the gift that Christianity offers and then follow an evil course. In that case you will experience much pain. It’s your choice!
PS: Your baptism in the waters at Key West is not the same as receiving the healing gift of forgiveness.

As we can plainly see, Phili harbors a lot of anger, and NOT forgiveness. He also feels that his life has been worse than others. We all make our own path. We either choose to follow God’s word or oppose it. I’ve lived both sides of the coin also, but I do not blame anyone but myself for the problems I have had in my life. It’s not God’s fault. It’s my own for not following him. And until Phili can stop finding fault in everyone and everything around him, he will never get it.
There comes a time when you have to be able to look at yourself and say I accept God or you don’t. If you don’t that’s all fine. This is America, you can believe whatever you want. But don’t blame society on your shortcomings. It’s not anyone else’s fault that you didn’t become a soldier, or a police officer, etc. You broke the law. It’s not society’s fault that you can’t conform to the rules of the workforce and take direction.

True, my bowels were disorderly for a period of time, which resulted in some un predicted foulings. But I’m regular now…my stress is lower. It was a good lesson though. The 4 hour car ordeal was the last time. That mess was colossal, and the stench didn’t leave my clothing and car for several weeks and multiple washings.
I’m surprised that no body jumped on the first comment that I made this morning. I agree with LVS, something/someone created the planet we live on. What I believe and what others believe could be two different things. And that’s alright, because in this country (so far) we have the freedom to believe what we want. What kind of a God is Silverman looking for, is he looking, and would he recognize it if he saw it. When I go outside and look around, I’m thankful for the wonders that I see.

Who is to say that the true god isn’t the Allah that ISIS worships and that everyone else is wrong? God is created in the image of man, not the other way around. A god is what people want it to be, based on what their current ethics are, what their culture is and politics.
