MINNEAPOLIS – A car full of shoplifters ran over a Minneapolis police officer late Saturday night, but the officer was not seriously injured.
On Saturday night, January 31 at approximately 10:00 PM, an officer from the Minneapolis Police Department approached a vehicle full of suspected shoplifters at the Cub grocery store located on the 5900 block of Nicollet Avenue South.
The suspect drove the vehicle directly at the officer, striking him. During the incident, the officer shot at the vehicle one time. The suspect vehicle fled the scene.
The officer suffered minor injuries and received medical attention. Police are reviewing videotape available as a course of this now on-going investigation.
According to information released Sunday, there were two suspects involved and they are described as one male and one female being in their mid-30s, and being of mixed race. The suspect vehicle is described as a early 2000 Ford Explorere, dark in color, possibly dark green or black.
