
MASON CITY – An auditor, Hogan-Hansen, today released an audit report on the Mason City Community School District in Mason City.
The District’s governmental revenue totaled $44,594,900 for the year ended June 30, 2014, a 6.3% decrease from the prior year. Revenue included $12,690,127 in local tax, $3,056,376 in statewide sales, services and use tax, charges for service of $3,494,691, operating grants and contributions of $6,295,112, capital grants and contributions of $1,224,923, unrestricted interest of $95,912, unrestricted state grants of $17,274,016 and other revenue of $463,743. Business-type activities revenue totaled $2,218,193.
Expenses for District governmental operations totaled $46,394,088, a 1.1% increase from the prior year. Expenses included $16,328,497 for regular instruction, $9,501,164 for special instruction and $4,609,940 for co-curricular instruction. Business-type activities expenses totaled $2,223,444.

Time for them to get more efficient in their operation’s. Cut back on the un-needed things they do. Fire some top manager’s and assistants and put the rest to work doing their jobs.
Looks like we need a cut in spending around 7%
