RURAL ROCKFORD – A woman riding a motorcycle near Rockford struck a car in which the driver was attempting to turn the vehicle around in the roadway.
According to the Cerro Gordo county sheriff’s office, on July 3, 2024, at approximately 5:53 PM, emergency responders were sent to a car versus motorcycle personal injury accident at 10708 Zinnia Avenue, rural Rockford. They say that 32-year-old Pedro Juan Bernal Gallego of Rockford was traveling North in the 10000 block of Zinnia Avenue in a red 2006 Chevrolet Malibu when he attempted a three point turn in the middle of the roadway. 19-year-old Catherine Jean Dow of Rockford was traveling South in the 10000 block on Zinnia, driving a 2019 Red Kawasaki EX400. Dow collided with the passenger’s side of Gallego’s vehicle.
Dow was treated at the scene for non-life-threatening injuries and released by Mason City Fire Medics. Gallego was uninjured. Gallego was cited and released for Driving Under Suspension, Failure to Provide Proof of Financial Liability – Accident, and Stopping on Paved Part of Highway.

Assisting the Cerro Gordo county sheriff’s office were the Iowa State Patrol, Floyd County Sheriff’s Office, Mason City Fire Department, and Rockford Fire Department.
