Longtime Mason City Resident and Air Force Veteran Marvin Bohl Passes Away at 88

Marvin Eugene Bohl, 88, of Mason City, Iowa, passed away peacefully on Thursday, April 23, 2026, at MercyOne North Iowa Medical Center. A Memorial Service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, April 29, 2026, at Fullerton Funeral Home.

MASON CITY, IA – Marvin Eugene Bohl, a man defined by his 66-year marriage and dedication to his community, passed away on April 23, 2026, at the age of 88.

An Iowa man who served in the U.S. Air Force from 1955 to 1959, Marvin returned to Mason City to build a life with his wife, Katherine. He spent 33 years working for the Lehigh Cement Company until his retirement in 1998.

Marvin was perhaps best known for his unwavering devotion as a caregiver for his wife for nearly three decades following her stroke. In his spare time, he was an avid Chicago Cubs fan and a regular at Newman Knight sporting events. He also enjoyed golfing at Rockwell’s Linn Grove and solving complex puzzles.

He is survived by his three sons, Terry, Jeffrey, and Brian, as well as a large legacy including 11 grandchildren and 29 great-grandchildren.

Service Information
Services were held at Fullerton Funeral Home with burial at Elmwood-St. Joseph Cemetery.
