NASHUA, IA – The Nashua community is honoring the memory of Douglas James Betsinger, a decorated veteran and family man who passed away on April 26, 2026, at the age of 55.
An Iowa man with a profound sense of duty, Douglas served his country for 24 years in the United States Army. His military career, which spanned from 1988 to 2012, included three active tours in Iraq and assignments around the world, from Korea to Germany.
Back home in Nashua, Douglas was known for his approachable spirit and easygoing nature. He married his high school sweetheart, Lisa Sparks, in 1995, and together they raised three sons. Douglas was a fixture on his back porch, enjoying meaningful conversations and cheering on the Minnesota Vikings. His adventurous side even led him to two memorable jackpot wins in Las Vegas.
He is survived by his wife, Lisa; his father, Clinton; and his three sons, Dalton, Chase, and Easton, along with an extended family.
