MASON CITY – The NIACC Board of Directors is scheduled to meet on the evening of April 16, 2026.
MEETING SUMMARY:
The North Iowa Area Community College (NIACC) Board of Directors will hold its spring retreat and regular meeting today, April 16, 2026, at the Mason City campus. The afternoon retreat features a student panel, a facilities master plan update, and a tour of the nursing office and design-build projects. During the 5:00 PM regular meeting, the board is scheduled to appoint a new candidate to fill the District III vacancy and conduct public hearings regarding the FY2027 budget and a campus utilities project. Major action items include requests to approve design partnership agreements with Bergland + Cram for a new Dental Hygiene Building and auditorium renovations. Additionally, the board will consider a campus security contract, a service agreement with Baker Group, and a preliminary 260E training agreement for Dimensional Graphics Corporation. The session will also include a legislative report and a reminder of the upcoming NIACC Commencement on May 1. Overall, the meeting covers a broad range of fiscal, personnel, and infrastructure planning essential for the college’s upcoming academic year.

NIACC’s budget process follows Iowa Code 260C for the certified budget. The requirements include setting the property tax levy based on taxable property valuations. The College is required to submit the budget to the Iowa Department of Education for approval in a designated timeframe. NIACC follows the Iowa Community College Accounting Manual and Governmental Accounting Standards Board regulations.
