Marcia Anne Pepin was born February 21, 1942, in Elizabeth, Illinois to parents Julian and Margaret Olson. Her father worked in communications for the railroad and was transferred to Peru, Iowa, a little town south of Winterset. When Marcia was seven, her father moved the family to Oelwein where Marcia attended Oelwein schools and graduated with the OCHS class of 1960. After high school, she married Jerald Pipho, they later divorced after several years. Marcia started working for Piggly Wiggly in Waterloo where she did accounting. Over the years she worked for numerous businesses in Oelwein, such as Gaylors SuperValu, Mikes IGA, Baums Clothing, Meyer Lincoln True Value, Furniture Showcase as their bookkeeper, and lastly Appliance Plus as their bookkeeper retiring in 2008.

On August 3, 1974, she married “the love of her life” Denny Pepin at Zion Lutheran Church in Oelwein. They lived in several homes in Oelwein before moving to Independence, IA in 2019.

Left to grieve is her husband Denny of 52 years, her children Jo (Mike) Hoffman of Peoria, AZ, Brenda (Gary) Fox of Oelwein, IA, Shelley (Ted) Lujan of West Union, IA, & son Michael of Oelwein, IA, 12 Grandchildren, 13 Great Grandchildren, several nephews and a niece and her cat Charley.

The most important thing in life to Marcia above all was her family. She enjoyed taking care of the flowers and bushes around the outside of the house, reading “whodunit” mystery novels, summer trips to Woman Lake near Hackensack, MN, traveling to Yellowstone National Park, vacationed once in Hawaii, and attending St Louis Cardinal baseball games.

Marcia is preceded in death by her parents, maternal and paternal grandparents, her sister Gail Wick and brother-in-law John Wick, and an infant son ‘Chip’ from her first marriage.
