FAIRBANK, IOWA — An Iowa man was arrested early Saturday morning after allegedly crashing into a building and fleeing the scene during a late-night incident in Buchanan County.
The Buchanan County Sheriff’s Office received a 911 report at approximately 3:00 a.m. on April 25, 2026, regarding a motor vehicle that had struck a light pole and crashed into a building in the 100 block of East Main Street in Fairbank, Iowa. Upon the arrival of deputies and Fire/EMS personnel, it was discovered that the driver had already fled the scene.
Following an investigation, authorities located a male at approximately 4:30 a.m. near 20th Street and W Avenue in neighboring Fayette County. Deputies arrested 18-year-old Brodie Glen Herriage of West Union in connection with the crash.
Herriage faces a series of charges, including:
Operating While Intoxicated/Impaired – 2nd Offense (Aggravated Misdemeanor)
Driving While License Barred (Aggravated Misdemeanor)
Driving While License Suspended (Simple Misdemeanor)
Failure to Carry SR22 Insurance (Simple Misdemeanor)
Additionally, Herriage was cited for Underage Alcohol Possession, Failure to Maintain Control, and Failure to Carry Proof of Insurance.
The Buchanan County Sheriff’s Office was assisted in the investigation and arrest by the Fayette County Sheriff’s Office and the Fairbank Fire Department.
