MASON CITY – Two men were arrested after a man suffered injuries in an assault at his Mason City apartment on New Year’s Eve.
Felix Arp, age 23, and Lucas Rutta, age 31, were arrested on New Year’s Eve at about 10:12 PM after police were called to an apartment at 113 South Jefferson Avenue. Both men were charged with serious assault after a man suffered injuries there. The alleged victim declined medical attention. Arp was also charged with Interference with Official Acts, police told NIT. Rutta and the alleged victim appear to be roommates at that location.
Both Arp and Rutta were soon released from jail pending court dates.
Arp was released from prison earlier in February of 2014 after serving two years for felony burglary. He is now set to stand trial next week on charges of marijuana possession and felony unauthorized use of a credit card. He has pleaded not guilty to those charges.
Police say a third male subject may have also been involved in the assault but could not confirm that detail.
