MASON CITY – An immigration hold has been placed on a man after he was arrested at a North End house Sunday following an assault.
Mason City police were called to 604 North Massachusetts Sunday at about 3:30 AM to investigate a domestic assault. Police determined that 36-year-old Claudio Mateo had committed domestic assault which included strangulation. He was arrested and taken to jail, where n immigration hold was placed on him to check on his citizenship status. He awaits an October 31 court date.
Mateo earlier in July pled guilty to first offense operating while intoxicated in Clay county. He was originally charged with second offense drunk driving but took a plea deal.
