CERRO GORDO COUNTY – Details are short on an arrest made this weekend by Iowa State Patrol of an Iowa man with meth and marijuana.
An Iowa State Patrol trooper stopped a vehicle driven by 42-year-old Douglass VanRiper of Iowa in Cerro Gordo County on October 18 around 6:00 PM. After an investigation, VanRiper was discovered to be under the influence. He was also discovered to be in possession of methamphetamine and marijuana, and was not a valid driver.
Van Riper was arrested and charged with first offense operating while intoxicated, possession of drug paraphernalia, possession of meth, possession of marijuana, no insurance and no license to drive. He posted bond and was released from jail and later pled not guilty to all charges. He now awaits an April 15, 2015 non-jury trial.
