CLEAR LAKE – Police in Clear Lake confirmed Monday that they did execute a search warrant at a troubled motel over the weekend.
Clear Lake police officers went to the Silver Boot Motel, 1214 South Shore Drive, in the early morning hours of October 4, 2014.
The apartment tenant and former manager of the now-closed motel, Diane Duclos and her son, Chris Duclos, were in the apartment at the time of the raid.
Police seized high end bicycles and bicycle frames.
Police also said that charges are expected to be filed this week.
The current owner of the Silver Boot, Ted Christensen, called NorthIowaToday.com Monday morning and was pleased with a story published Sunday on this incident, prior to a news release from the CLPD. He says that he has essentially sold the property and has an agreement with a buyer, but the final sale is being held up by “squatters” that refuse to leave his motel. He said that Duclos refuses to move out and that the reason the motel’s reputation has declined in recent months is due to him erroneously “trusting his management”. He also said that everything NIT published Sunday was “100% accurate.”
