MCPD investigates

MASON CITY – As an investigation now continues in the death of young William Whipple, police are asking for an end to speculation and for persons with knowledge to come forward.

Police today told NIT that speculation is rampant in the community regarding the circumstances that may have led to the death of 20-year-old William Whipple. William was injured this past weekend, hospitalized, and later passed away. Police are worried that a rush to judgement will cause even more problems.

Any further developments in this death investigation will hinge on autopsy results – which could take weeks or even months to be returned to police – NIT is told.

In the meantime, a rush to judgement in not advised. Police are asking for anyone who may have been with William since this past weekend until the time of his death or anytime in between to please phone the police dispatch at 641-421-3636 and speak to an officer on duty. Leaving a message would not be best; it is advised to speak directly to an officer.

Most of you on this page are friends of WW by the way you are talking. If so then you know why he got beat up. Drug dealers want their money for the goods they sold you. So stop acting like you don’t know why VF beat his f**king ass. If you are truly friends and are so f**king bad go find VF and kick the livin shit out of him. I’m not promoting violence or terror just sick of you dumb asses on here trying to defend WW. HE didn’t need to get beat like he did but thats what drug dealers do. Ask your parents what the mafia did to people that crossed them in the old days. Most of them are dead or wished they were.

I cannot believe the horrible posts here. No one deserved what will got. NO ONE. I don’t believe he was “running” with anyone. An aquaitence. Flores wanted drugs and money. So he robbed and beat him. He is a repeat offender quite a few times over. Have some compassion for the family that just lost their son. I am so sad that people on here are saying these horrible things..Flores and his type are what’s wrong with this town.

And if Will was taking prescription Xanax illegally and was the cause of his death the person that sold him the Xanax should be charged with involuntary manslaughter, like with any other drug. I would hope if he was in contact with police, they would have requested a alcohol & drug analysis they would know he had Xanax in his system and if levels were high I’m guessing they would take the necessary precautions knowing withdrawal from Benzos is really dangerous. But, blunt force trauma could still be the cause of death days after incident.

I can’t believe what I am reading! This is horrible. What has happened to society?! No one deserves to be beat to death . Drug user, dealer whatever he was, no one deserves it. We ALL make mistakes . Sad Will’s cost his life”having a addiction “. For the ones that think he deserved it for some ridiculous, sick reason his family didnt deserve to lose a son, brother or best friend. I pray the MCPd does a thural investigation and can bring some closure to Will’s death. I pray they find the person and he gets served the sentence he deserves a murder is a murder doesn’t matter what the victim was involved in or doing at the time.People have to be held accountable for their actions…

@ Wanda. You, madam, are a redneck, trailer trash lunatic. Hiring motorcycle gang members to hunt down and kill people is sheer idiocy. You’re not going to cut the KKK in on this? “Sons of Silence” riders? Murdering people while the MCPD looks away? Your racist, insane advocacy of sanctioned violence tells me you’re likely a raving, NRA Republitard. Your idea reminds me of the crap the Globb publishes by Todd Blodgett. Do you smoke crack with Toddy Boy, or just go target shooting with him? Go away, you bigoted Neanderthal. Just go away.

I think the police should park right on the street in front of the drug dealers houses, until they get a call. Instead of them parking in some lot, sit in front of the dealers houses. And continue to do this over and over. Let these drug dealers know that they are not wanted here and to take their business back to Chicago and Detroit where they came from. It makes me sick that the town I grew up in has turned into one big place for the thug drug dealers. Something needs to be done to get rid of them.

the withdrawals from xanax, are very similar to those of heroin, and are to be done under the supervision of a doctor, with that being said, those of you whom have seen or heard from william whipple within the last few months may know he suffered from this addiction, taking EXTREMELY high amounts of this medication every single day. So, I’m a little unsure as to why he was not recommended to be treated for his addiction, or why he was not supervised, being that he was suffering from such an extreme physical and mental addiction to the medication he was selling, large amounts of. those of you whom passing…

Doctors ask if you are taking any drugs or are using alcohol and they ask how much you are using. If you lie to the doctor and don’t tell them what you use and how much, they can’t advise you proper treatment. Simple as that.

And 10 bucks says he lied to the Dr. and his death was a combination of prescription drugs and whatever else he was playing with from the streets. Possibly booze combo too. Autopsy will tell. IF we hear or it’s reported. Family doesn’t have to release that info. This is still just an investigation. No one is being sought on a warrant for the death. Tho some have already deemed someone guilty in the court of public opinion.

And you’re making public assumptions. Obviously if his jaw was wired shut I doubt he would be consuming alcohol and if it was a combination of drugs and alcohol you would think they would have done some sort of toxicity screen if he was. Usually you can clearly tell if someone is under the influence.

Katie. Wasn’t sure if he passed right away. If he hadn’t you’d think they’d draw blood if suspected of an OD or under the influence. Is what I what’s trying to explain. Person in initial comment said ” He pprobably lied to the Dr about using.” Dr’s aren’t stupid they know if someone is or has been using drugs. . . I’m sure they did blood tests while he was In Iowa City hospital before he had past. That obviously doesn’t show how be past a few days later just making a point.I can spot someone who uses without a degree.Common sense

The only similarities with Heroin withdrawal and Benzo withdrawal is that they both should be supervised other than that there’s nothing simular about the two. Speaking from experience with heroin withdrawal. Benzo withdrawl is more simular to alcohol withdrawal. Benzo withdrawal is the most dangerous along with alcohol withdrawal.

Not saying this was the case. But no matter how much you try to help an addict . They have to want it for themselves. Doctors can’t llegally force you to go to rehab. Most addicts know their resources, its just them being ready and wanting to change for themselves. The only way you can make someone get help is getting a court order. And that’s usually a waste of time & money sadly because the family wants it more than the addict.

What if this was your son? Whipple may have not made the best choices and I do not see on here where he was being quoted as a choir boy it still does not give the right for someone to beat him the way he was. Stop for a second and think how you would feel if this was your son or daughter you would want justice for something like that no matter what the mistake of your child or life style was. He was 20 years old and had not figured out what his life would be. Everyone is so quick to point the negative in every situation. He was someones son and have some respect for that point.

I’d say the same thing such as “what are you doing hanging with drug using disfunctionals? ” I would speculate my child had issues also. But I wouldn’t automatically blame the other person when I knew my child was also a street thug. I’ve taught my kids “personal responsibility”. And you don’t even know the autopsy results yet. Would you like YOUR child deemed guilty before ALL facts are in? Maybe Whipple transgressed against the accused. can you think that far? Or are you just out to get one person because you’re a Whipple friend? Use your head not your emotions.

just because he sold drugs dosnt mean he was a “thug” he was a tiny lil boy and the dude that is responsible is a trained fighter and a coward. to beat someone like that annd leave them to die is a terrible thing to do no matter what the victim did.

Being a thug isn’t about size. It’s about what you’re doing.. Robbing drugging etc….. “Just because he was taking drugs”? You say….well then how do you know it wasn’t the drugs that killed him and that he might have od’d eventually anyway? My point was if you’re going to hang with a known crazy in a crazy crowd don’t be surprised or whine if occasionaly one of your crazy friends goes crazy. duh. If he’d been off the streets or in church at Midnight Mass… he’d still be alive.

Your lack of intelligence baffles me. “Your statement about him eventually od’ing anyway.” Is sickening to me I’m assuming you haven’t had the disease addiction touch your family. August 31st is overdose awareness day. Family and friends that have lost someone to addiction. Yes addiction is life or death, sadly he probably wasn’t going down the right path. But he was 20 years old going through a hard patch in his life doesn’t mean he’s scum like you made him sound just another statistic. I OD’d and made huge mistakes but, I’m sober today changed my life.

Ok, we need to pass the hat get up some big buck’s, least $500 dollars maybe $1000 dollars, pay some people like them that’s in Son’s of Silence them kinda guys come in to Mason, clean house. Cash deal. Long as the cop’s stay out of it look the other way for only a night maybe 2, most of them can be done. The bad ones they miss I think will be to scared to stay. Make them go back to Waterloo Detroit ect. where they fit in, leave out of Mason, we must take our town back.

The unexpected death of William has left those who knew and loved him with a feeling of emptiness we can not describe. Our eyes fill with tears as we recall the extream pain he endured the last days of his life. The body and soul of a young man was taken from us way too early. My heart is heavy knowing he will never experience the gift of marriage, the gift of a child or his dream of returning to school. So excited for his 21 birthday yesterday he will never feel the happiness of such a important milestone. There are many important life events William will never know. He will not grow old nor will experience the gift of grandchildren. He will no longer have a chance to explore his future…

I wish photos could be uploaded to these types of sites.. My daughter showed me a screen shot of val’s twitter post before he unleashed holy hell on that poor young man… Of course, which he later deleted after he caused all the chaos and damage he did… Thankfully, not before a quick thinking individual who’d also seen the post, decided to screen shot it… I’m not entirely sure, if thru the message it’s his way of trying to threaten that boy or give him fair warning- it CLEARLY shows intent that something is going to go down… You be the judge, his twitter post EXACTLY PER BAITUM as he had it, read as follows…

“It’s all part of the game homie. An if it ain’t the cops…

What speculation? Val Flores attacked and beat William. He was bragging about it on social media sites. He should be arrested for the attack and sit in jail waiting for the autopsy results, as he could be responsible for the death also. Wake up Mason City police, do your job and arrest Flores.

Real life isn’t like a TV show. It takes more than an hr. and public hearsay to get an arrest warrant. Autopsy reports, investigation of information etc. all take time. This isn’t the only case being worked on.

I highly doubt that the kid posted that he beat a kid until he died from it. If you robbed a bank would you post that you robbed a bank? No because that’s absolute foolishness. A postal have said that “it’s all part of the game…” But the fact of that matter is that post could have been about anything. As life is a game and we’re all being played.

From what I’ve heard, and it seems many others, the least of charges should be serious assault. Evidently the perp hasn’t come forward either, needs time to make up a story.
