CHARLES CITY – A Charles City man’s farm tractor lost its trailer and struck a parked car, causing thousands of dollars in damage.

Charles City police responded to an accident at the 100 block of North Man Street on the afternoon of September 8 after a green Deitz-Allis 9170 tractor operated by 27-year-old Matthew Henning lost the trailer it was pulling. The trailer detached and struck a legally parked and unoccupied blue 2002 Buick LeSabre, causing an estimated $3,000 in damage to the car.

Henning was charged with having an inadequate tow bar and driving with a revoked license.

Henning lost his license last year when he was charged in Butler county with felony eluding, drug possession and drunk driving.

Not sure but is it legal to drive farm equipment on public roadways with out a license? Being a farmer I’m sure he will not be held to the law and may even receive a check in the mail for emotional stress. I think the new fance term is called COST SHARING.
