Four car accident near Spencer injures several persons

logo-iowa-state-patrolSPENCER – A man ran a stop sign and caused a multi-vehicle accident near Spencer that injured a number of persons who were hospitalized.

The Clay County Sheriff’s Office and the Iowa State Patrol said that on August 31 at about 3:21 PM, Ron Sadler of Ida Grove, Iowa was driving his 2007 Chevrolet SLV at an intersection at County Road B-40 and M-27 when his vehicle was struck by a 2013 Chevy Equinox driven by James Getzfred of Elgin, Nebraska, who failed to stop at the stop sign. Two persons waiting at the stop sign who were on motorcycles were then struck by these vehicles, as well. About $48,000 in damages to the vehicles involved in the incident was estimated by police.

Several persons were taken to area hospitals with undisclosed injuries. Getzfred was charged with failure to stop at a stop sign.
