MASON CITY – A homeless shelter for women that is set to move to a new location has announced a fundraiser to help cover the costs of the transition.
The New Beginnings House of Hope provides 30 days of temporary shelter in a safe and secure environment to meet the needs of the homeless women and children population in North Iowa. It is currently located in the former YWCA building in downtown Mason City and is moving to a new location at 202 1st Street NW at a cost of over $600,000. The new facility will be able to house up to 30 people.
To help cover the costs of the move, a fundraiser is planned for October 18th, 2014 from 6 PM to 9 PM at the Prime N Wine restaurant, 3000 4th Street SW in Mason City. There will be hors d’oeuvre buffet, cash bar, and silent and live auctions. Guest speaker will be “Skid Row CEO” Joe Roberts. Tickets are $40 and can be purchased at a number of local businesses, including MBT Bank in Clear Lake, North Iowa Community Credit Union (both locations), First Citizens National Bank (both locations), Reflections Hair Salon, Haines Insurance, Clear Lake Bank and Trust Mason City and Clear Lake offices.
